It was a day off. A perfectly good excuse to hop on a train and head to Tokyo, right? He literally had absolutely nothing to do, and he had been possessed of an inexplicable urge to go to downtown Tokyo that day. The train ticket hadn't put too much of a dent in his pocket money, so he had plenty of money left over for the day. He usually enjoyed spending the entire day in Shibuya, but not today. Today he was finally going to go to Tokyo Tower. He'd been avoiding it all his life, citing that whenever something weird or bad happened in a manga, it always happened at Tokyo Tower. Well today he'd prove to his stupid friends that he was plenty brave enough to go there. After all, not like anything bizarre happened in real life, right?
So there he was, looking out over the city in Tokyo Tower. It was quite a view, actually. The buildings had an odd kind of beauty to them as he looked out at them. There were other people milling about the tower, but it didn't really faze Dante so much. He was just looking out at the city. It was something he enjoyed doing, he found. It would definitely be worth another trip someday. He was about to turn and leave, having stayed there for the agreed upon period of time and having taken pictures with his cell phone of the view to prove that he was there, when he noticed something shining on the ground. No one else seemed to notice it, and it was just beyond the railing there in a little trench. He looked around for who might have dropped it and, seeing no one, bent down to reach for it. It was a small device, three buttons and a screen with a little antenna of a sort sticking out of it. It was making some kind of noise, too. Still he saw no one coming to claim it. Whomever it belonged to didn't notice its absence. Strange considering the kind of ruckus it was making. There even seemed to be a belt clip on it, so how did someone lose this? Suddenly, the screen flashed brightly, and Dante's vision seemed to fade into light. His last thoughts before the light completely enveloped him were simple.
See? Everything weird that ever happens happens at Tokyo Tower. I told you guys, didn't I?
