Aftermath

Yin looked hard into Wizardmon's eyes, his face showing little but his eyes saying much. Such a fierce pride, such a wounded soul, a battle with emotion blazed behind the Kyokyomon's gaze. Finally, Yin blinked and surveyed the others, letting his analytical skills take over.

Pride aside, he was not in the best position to make demands. His energy was low and he was surprised that he had been able to digivolve at all. He would not be able to uphold his end of a fight. Not to mention the fact that the other Digimon, Vee he thought its name was, hadn't fought in the last fight at all and was thus in top form to fight. The irrational human boy was walking away and Inori was with him, far from her partner. Wizardmon was the only one who would be able to fight, and though the champion was powerful and seemed to be in control of that power, Yin didn't trust it.

These other children, could it be they were worse than Shiv? Two were insufferably emotional, and the third was altogether too rigid in his thinking. None seemed to be able to control their partners in battle with any degree of success. Staying with them would be dangerous, not because of the enemies that they fought, but the power that they couldn't even control. Yin's mind briefly flashed to a burning village in his past, a shadow raising from the rubble of a building, its eyes blazing...

Yin huffed and shook his head, possibly a little more than a mere scoff required.

"These ones are trouble," He growled in a voice so low that only Wizardmon could hear, "But I will not embroil you in a conflict that I cannot help against."

He raised his voice so that all the new children could hear.

"And to you other 'chosen,' if that is truly what you are," he said, "I care not for any of your tactics. They are crude and unrefined, you attack alone and it only shows the weakness in your hearts."

He looked at every partner Digimon in turn, from Yami to Vee to Ranal.

"You fight with hubris, always expecting the enemy to fold before you. What will you do when one of them outmaneuvers you and you have not the strength to win? And you! You stand back and let others fight for you, complete strangers defend your honor, all in order to later use that strength to attack them? Your cowardice begets your brother's zealotry I think. And you! You drown yourself in power and lose yourself! Power uncontrolled is the most dangerous of gifts, why do you put your trust only in this human? He has shown such aptitude for giving you the support that is required of him. You are the reason I dislike power, the very personification of potential misspent. You should never Digivolve again. I do not trust any of you, and you will leave my family alone."

And then Yin turned and lowered himself into a coil on Shiv's back, eyes ever alert on the three new 'chosen.'

[Usachan]

Usa looked up at the Digimon with the pointy hat. "You're right." She stood up and wiped her tears away, holding Vee with one arm. "I havent introduced myself, how rude of me. My name is Hikari, Usa. This is my partner Vee and my adopted partner, Kulumon."

Vee nodded to everyone then jumped down and went over to Yami. "Twin, go apologize. Even if you meant it as a joke, it was taken seriously."

Kulumon's ears got big again and smiled. "Nice to meet everyone, kulu. Will you all be Kulumon's friends, kulu?"

[Atlas Jiruga]

Atlas looked at Wizardmon. "Your right Wizardmon i will have to control Renal better. I wouldn't want to start unnecessary fights." Atlas said.

Renal looked at Yin when he finished talking. "You are like an irritating fly. When you talk its like your buzzing in my ear. Listen! I put my trust in Atlas because he is my partner and he is the only one i can consider a friend. I considered the rest of you friendly acquaintances up until now. Also i didn't lose myself. I did what i saw was fit to protect my tamer. Something you fail-" Renal was cut off.

"Renal that's enough! You shouldn't let what other people say bother you. This is exactly how you start fights." Atlas said. Renal looked at Atlas then looked away and closed his eyes and crossed his arms. "Yeah, your right." Renal then looked at Yin. "I'm sorry." Renal said with an annoyed tone.

[Teo Sage]

Teo raised his head he appreciated the gentle tone of the Wizard digimon for some reason he felt very relaxed when he spoke he couldn't help but smile in response.

However, someone else wasn't to keen on what just happened Vee told Yami to apologize but then Yin spoke. He turned his head and gave a glare that could paralyze if it were possible. He hadn't even realized that Renal had gotten scolded for speaking out of turn as a matter of fact everything around him seemed to just fade from his attention it was just him and the loud mouth.

"Who the hell do you think you are? My brother fought to protect Teo and Usa don't you EVER call my brother a coward while you don't know a DAMN thing that he went through!" Yami clenched his teeth then his eyes widened.

"If you ever bad mouth my brother again I will KILL you and that is a promise!"

Yami turned around and looked at Vee. Before Vee could say anything Yami spoke "I'm fine nii-san."

Yami walked over to Teo and climbed up into his arms his back turned away from the group and lie down. Teo looked at his partner he couldn't begin to understand how he felt but he knew saying anything to him now would only worsen his feelings so he stayed silent and looked at Usa and then at Wizardmon.

"Um." Was all Teo could say.

[Dante]

Dante stopped walking when he heard Inori calling to him. Might as well let her speak her piece, after all.

"If there are more things out there like that nasty piece of work we just dealt with, going alone is probably not going to end well. If you want to go alone, I won't stop you. Well, this moment aside. If you want me to go with you, I will. I don't trust anyone here...but you're the only one that hasn't abandoned me or said something that makes me want to think really hard about hitting them. Ideally in the face. I just...Safety in numbers, as Wizardmon tells me. Yea?"

Before Dante even remotely started thinking about it, Salamon chimed in.

"I understand what you're doing, Dante, and I appreciate it," she said, "I don't much care for them so far either, but I'm willing to give them a chance. I'm not saying go back unless you want to, but don't go it alone. I'm strong while we're together, but I'm not that strong. We couldn't have gotten through this last fight without Inori and Shiv."

Dante considered this for a moment, then responded.

"It's not going to break my heart to be apart from Shiv, even though he's useful. The kid's irritating and besides, their group could use him more than we could. His partners are trouble, especially if that shouting is any indication. They might not care for the idea that we're leaving them behind, but it's tit for tat and I'm not waiting."

He looked up at Inori.

"If you want to come, you can, but I'm leaving. If Destiny is so intent on having this group travel together, she's gonna have to do a lot better than that."

He left things just like that and stood, waiting for her to either comment, go collect her partner, or just plain go. Regardless of her response, he saw no reason to change his mind just yet. As he awaited her response, he entertained a thought that had just entered his head.

Where did that crack about Destiny come from?

[Inori]

"Give me just a moment." Inori replied before making her way back to her partner.

Meanwhile, Wizardmon made an irritated sound. "Clearly I can see who is the bigger mon hear. I fail to see how hurling threats of deleting someone else is going to make this group more...cohesive."

The champion level digimon glanced to his partner as she approached, shaking his head and sighing. "I did what I could, but I can only do so much."

Inori smiled briefly before addressing the others. "One of us wants to go on alone, and I cannot in good mind allow it. We are going to go with him...just in case. If one of you wants to try and stop him, all the more to you...but either way..."

Inori held her hand out to Wizardmon...who promptly took it. She glanced towards Yin, offering an apologetic look. She did not want to abandon him. He hadn't done anything wrong (other than running off with Shiv when he ditched her earlier...but she half understood why), but she suspected Dante wouldn't wait that long.

Thinking of that...Inori shifted and began walking back to Dante, Wizardmon in tow.

Yin watched the girl and her champion go, and felt the dark bundle of anger and bloodlust in the shadows follow suit. He understood their thoughts, he wished that he could follow. These others were dangerous, and Yin felt more comfortable with the danger he knew than these unknown quantities. He settled in next to Yang and Shiv, keeping a critical eye on the others in the party.

Shiv slept peacefully, his exhaustion keeping him blissfully unaware of the goings on around him. Yang cooed in his sleep, giggling every now and again. Yin's eyes softened when he glanced at them, but hardened again when he resumed his watch.

He would need to protect his family.

[Usachan]

Usa bit her lower lip then walked over to the girl and the boy with the puppy-like digimon in his hands. "I'm sorry about all the cross words and misunderstandings. Everyone is tired and not thinking straight. I understand if you would like to leave, but it's already dark, so why dont you spend the night with the big group, we all take watches, and after you sleep, you can leave in the morning if that is what you decide." She gave them a small smile.

Kulumon looked at them with his big eyes. "Please stay, kulu."

Vee sighed and looked at his Twin. "Otouto....."

[Atlas Jiruga]

Renal had plopped down on the ground again after the not so friendly conversation. "Wow being angry takes a lot out of you." Renal said. "You look tired Renal. Why not relax and maybe rest a bit?" Atlas suggested. "I would love to... Except my hunger is the only thing keeping me awake!" Renal said.

"We'll get something to eat in the morning." Atlas said. "OK. But what about you?" Renal asked. "Don't worry about me I'll be fine." Atlas said. Renal had laid back and was asleep right away. Atlas was sitting next to him looking around. Atlas looked at Dante and thought "Whats up with that kid?" He saw him walking away and then just shrugged.

[Teo Sage]

Teo looked at Yami as he appeared to have fallen asleep things felt very tense in the atmosphere between the newer children and them it looked like two were all but ready to leave and the other was face first in the grass.

Suddenly the incident with Devimon seemed like a lesser problem then the situation now at least during the fight everyone worked together. Teo thought to himself as he sat down in the grass.

Before he could get comfortable however in seems destiny was about to call. Suddenly, everyone's digivices began to beep erratically getting faster and the screens began to light up.

Teo looked at his "What is going on?" The noise woke up Yami "Whaaazaah?" He said in a sleepy tone then a face of awe bestowed upon him. Then with in moments beams of light shot forth from the screens and in a almost surreal scene began to swirl around the entire group no matter how far one was to the other.

Soon the view of the starry night sky and the grass below began to fade and was slowly replaced by a wall of light in every direction. "What is going on..........?" Teo looked to see Yami vanishing "Yami!" Then Teo looked to where Usa was and she too was vanishing and everyone else would soon experience the same thing.

Finally, everything went black.
