Personalities~
Shiv was only allotted one actual partner. That partner is Yang. Yang is the epitome of an optimist, he always tries to see the bright side of a situation. This allows him to overcome insurmountable odds, but most often just gets him into trouble. He is quick to compliment others, but he tends to overdo it and often makes others not believe him. Though do not misunderstand, Yang means every word. He is smart, cheerful, and fiercely loyal to his friends. His best friend is Yin, the Kyokyomon. Yin is the opposite of Yang (go figure), where Yang sees victory, Yin sees defeat. Light and Darkness together. Yin's defeatist attitude has granted him one boon, the ability to size up the foe without bias. While he often underwrites himself, he does not tend to underestimate, or overestimate, his foes.
When yin was still a baby one of his good friends digivolved from rookie to champion right in front of his eyes. Unable to control his newfound power, this digimon accidentally laid waste to Yin's village. Yin has been terrified of digivolving ever since. In the ruins of the village was where Yang found him. Already In-Training, Yang helped Yin survive until he Digivolved himself. Together the two watched out for each other and developed an extremely close friendship, even reffering to themselves as brothers! In Yang, Yin found a friend who would always be there and a light when Yin was surrounded in darkness. And in Yin, Yang found a friend who was able to moderate his outgoing personality. The two are inseperable.
Yang knows of his destiny to be a partner, and is looking forward to the adventures with him/her, though he hopes that his partner is a girl, he likes girls. Yin is uneasy about his brother's exuberance. He does not like the thought of another coming between them. He does not recognize the jealousy that has already begun to bloom in his heart. Yin will follow the two, protecting Yang, but he will never follow this interloper.
By and large personalities change very little among the different evolutions. Yang becomes even more flamboyant while Starmon, and when he becomes Mamemon, his level of discipline is raised, though not so much that his original personality doesn't show. As Puppetmon, Yang's mood darkens as he shows what he has learned of tactics and deceit from his partner. Yin will not digivolve until he trusts Shiv enough to control his power, as he knows what a high level digimon running rampant will do. His mood becomes more and more serene and noble the higher he digivolves, but hurting Yang will always be his berserk button. He might even listen to Shiv it's for Yang's benefit.
The thought behind the two is for drama amidst the partnership. While Shiv will accept and rely on Yang, forming a close bond, he will ultimately identify more with Yin. This will eventually bring all three together as they all learn to trust one another. All of this is a big if though, I'm not entirely sure how this will play out. My characters can surprise me sometimes.
