(Again, this is one of those things that already exists, but we're fiddling it for the RP. These items are very important for Digivolving to higher levels, and might even count as key plot devices, so read up! Also, spoilers for future twists lurk here, so be careful.)
The Original Digimentals
A pair of large fragments of one of Fanglongmons Digi-cores. Fanglongmon gifted them to the Master Angels Cherubimon and Seraphimon in the Age of Emergence to help them enlarge their ranks. When activated, even the tiniest fraction of their power could cause instantaneous Digivolution to any level, and enhance the abilites of a Digimon a hundred-fold. The holy rings were forged from the Digimentals, and when Seraphimon rebelled, his Digimental was broken down into the raw Crests, which were in turn forged into the solid Crests, the Tags, and the second-generation Digimentals. During the last few Digital Years, a crisis has caused Cherubimon to seal his Digimental inside a unique Digimon, who was then spirited away to the Lost Islet.
Crests
Portions of Seraphimons Digimental that can be used to Digivolve to Ultimate/Perfect level, and even Mega/Ultimate when charged with holy energy. They may only be used by a Chosen Child/Digidestined, and even then only the one they are assigned to. The raw Crests are contained in the Data Fonts of the Sovereign, and can be forged into solid Crests at their will or at the hands of a skilled craftsman. They are tied inherently to a certain personality trait, and thus thousands, if not millions, of Raw Crests that exist, but only a small percentage of these are made into solid Crests and choose a human to bear them. If a solid Crest is destroyed, the raw Crest fuses with the human who bears it.
Tags
Devices made to channel the power of a solid Crest through a Digivice. Concerns that the Crests would be unweildly and potentially damaging to the Digivices led to the forging of the Tags from a hybrid of Digimental energy and nigh-indestructible, super-conductive Chrome Digizoid. The Tags dilute Crest energy so that it is easier to weild (but no less potent).
Second Generation Digimentals
When a solid Crest is forged, there is a large amount of leftover, redundant and weakened raw Crest energy. Should one have the mindset, they may forge a Chrome Digizoid casing for this, which then becomes a Second Generation Digimental, often simply called Digimentals. These can form a bond with any Digimon, combining their data into a new Digimon with power equivalent to Champion/Adult or even Ultimate/Perfect level Digimon. A large number of these were forged by the Sovereign during the Age of War to bolster the ranks of their armies, and when the war was over, they were discarded and forgotten.
