So, what do you guys think so far? I know only one episode has been released but I personally thing this is going to be the worst season to date.
Everything looks like it revolves around JOGRESS which they simply renamed Digi Xros. Shoutmon simply becomes X2, X3, and X4 so they have completely dropped the digivolution it looks like.
I don't know the first episode was disappointing to me. Time will tell if it improves.

What did I like? The world crossover was superb. Best since Tamers, and I'll stand by that. Psycho rival w/spiky hair is awesome. New Digimon designs are very nice. Particularly MadLeomon (I want a plushie of that guy) and Ballistamon, as well as the Shoutmon Xrosses(sans obvious Omnimon takes in the design - I refuse to accept that they've run out of ideas for DNA/Xros style Digivolutions). Animation was slick and exceptionally attractive in places.
What didn't I like? The animation was, in places, very obviously done via computers. And it looked lame... Main character's dynamic with psycho female is irritating me. "Plot? What's that?" No, really. The whole series was supposed to be set up in that episode, and it didn't work too well for me. Starmon redesign fail. (Starmon has always been one of my favourite Digimon, so...) Xros. Xros<Digivolution. Xros should not be the dominant method of Digivolving. :C
And yet I thought it was fun, when it wasn't being stupid - but the gratuitous comedy can die. As can Shoutmons creepy facial expressions.

MadLeomon was obviously a JOGRESS between Ogremon and Leomon it was painfully obvious which make him a Perfect level off the bat which then confuses me when he evolved.
Armed Leomon would be Ultimate level which could explain why Ballistamon and Shoutmon jumped to the Perfect level when they Xros even though it was incomplete.
If they could do that from the beginning then Shoutmon X2 is pretty insignificant. Which further backs up my point that evolution is no longer necessary and level means nothing in there opinion anyway since a Rookie beat an Perfect (which is the level I'm guessing he is) with a simple sword attack.
I however will never agree with that.

No, Teo: Mad Leomon is an undead version of Leomon - that's why he's classified as an Undead Digimon. I'd also prefer it if you were less acidic when posting about the show - it's bordering on rude (not that you don't have a point, but c'mon, there's less agressive ways to say stuff).
Back on the subject of the series, though - I think it's a little too early to judge whether it's up to snuff, but it's got equal potential to be entertaining (but not to the standard of Tamers or Adventure 01, my personal favourite seasons) or devastatingly bad (sub-Frontier's lowest points).

To be fair, I'm a massive Demon Lords, Royal Knights etc. fan (if you couldn't tell from the backstory), which is why I squee-d.

Boy o Boy just when you think you know something about Digimon Akiyoshi throws in a wrench, if you haven't seen episode 7 apparently digimon actually do have parents according to Cutemon. Which now brings up a HELL of a lot of new questions......................

Is it me or did the characters just get younger? wait a power ranger zord... hmmm seems to me their trying to target the even younger audience with this series what with all the more colourful digimon to attract the younger ones. And it has a sort of hyper activeness aswell, destructive fights that seem to come together more randomly than they previously would.
I can see myself hating the dub version like i did the dub version of savers And this coming from someone who normaly likes dubs but since watching the japanese first episode of savers i couldnt stand the dubbed version first episode because the translators cut the series to pieces making it appeal to kids overseas. (And to take out the swear words which is fair enough)
Teo- They always rewrite the story everytime they do a show they just decided to say that in this alternate reality of digimon that they have parents. I get the feeling after watching the first episode that they might rewrite all digimon as being music on the internet that came to life or something though that could be just unique to Shoutmon since he seems like a music based dino digimon.
edit: i'll watch a few more episodes later when i get round to it, i dont dislike the new looks for the digimon atleast.

Well up until Xros Wars the main idea of evolution which is the landmark per se of the franchise was always incorporated although each digimon season is parallel to each other and is parallel to the manga and the early games. They exist close to each other but without being able to communicate with each other excluding certain circumstances like Season 1 and 2 exist in the same universe or Ryo's odd ability to jump to each parallel digimon universe or Parallelmon who is not bound by the barrier separating each universe. My point being each seasons, manga, and video game uses the methods of evolution portrayed through season's 1-5, Season 6 however approached digimon completely different way it appears levels of a digimon no longer hold any significance, there is no evolution, digimon have parents, Travel between continents require a wormhole of some sort. Season 6 is looking more and more like a relaunch of the series although if this rumor of this season being season 0 which sets the foundation of the digimon franchise for seasons 1-5 then things may change as the season continues but we have to watch to be sure. If they are targeting the younger audiences then it wouldn't make much sense since digimon from the beginning have been meant for younger audiences as far as swearing and partial nudity goes in the japanese culture that stuff is acceptable within the younger crowds. Digimon are still made of data but Shoutmon and Ballistamon are digimon that use sound as there weapons.

Yes i agree, this season seems to be wholly different from previous renditions it seems to me they spent a whole lot less time on story and alot more time on action from watching the first episode lol at Taiki doing a tornado spin pass with the basket ball. They probbably found that kids liked the larger digimon and big explosions and the like even the opening sports a more action packed sequence of Shoutmon in one of his larger forms blowing away an army of digimon surrounding him in flames. Maybe they also felt most of their target audience understood the gist of digimon anyway since savers and possibly the older seasons perhaps?
I'll watch a few more episodes when i feel like watching it and maybe my opinion will change on it.

Well, I watched the latest episodes of Xros Wars, and I have come to a theory that pertains to this season.
From what I can conclude so far, Akiyoshi approached this season entirely brand new. There is a reason there aren't levels anymore or evolution in the way we are used to. That is because they don't exist, in this universe Digimon are born just like we humans, by parents, there born and grow with out ever changing there form.
This is backed up by episode 12 and 13 where Baalmon reminisces about his past. Clearly he is younger and smaller then the one in the current time period he even states he had been trying to get stronger when he was younger. This is further backed up by Cutemon's search for her parents. Which in episode 11 we could clearly see were two much larger Cutemon. Also so far there dosen't seem to be any proof of a rebirth process but we will see if that stays true.
So, this is what I've come to....I don't know how I feel yet about this different approach to the franchise this is still a theory so I'll be watching more episodes and see if anything changes.
