Faboo! I'm good with rules. =) I've been RPing for a longish time now, between tabletop, and some super old school forum RPing madness.
First question...about when a digimon hits champion stage, will they have to revert back down to the rookie stage after combat/whatever got them to digivolve is done with? Like...I'm a super huge Wizardmon fan, but tragically, Wizardmon is the champion stage, and not the rookie stage...and while the various other potential options that Wizardmon's rookie stage could be are neat, it's not the same! (Though I might just draw up my own and use Wizardmon's appearance as a template)
There are others I swear, I just...have to rethink them.

Well I believe your allowed to start with an adult level as HL's Apemon started at that stage however Its entirely up to the user who decides whether or not the digimon will revert I suggest doing it when a situation calls for it.
Like extraneously long battles will exhaust a digimon which would cause a revert under any normal circumstances a champion digimon doesn't "have" to revert. Neither does any digimon really they can choose to to save there strength recover injuries and what not but there not forced to do so. Otherwise the digital world wouldn't have Mega level and Ultimate level digimon walking around freely.

Hehe, well after a long battle yes, I would understand reverting farther...just there is the sort of 'default stage' that they tend to idle in the longest, generally the rookie stage for Tamer's companions (Exception of Gatomon...unless there is something past s4...I haven't watched the newer stuff).
Do you guys use a specific place to get a reference for the evolution line? I've got most of one figured out for Wizardmon, but the problem hits after Wizardmon goes to Wisemon...as AncientWisemon does not exactly seem like a viable digivolution option for this.

XD fair enough! Dynasmon was one I was looking at (I have a digidex website that's been ultra helpful)...
Though this is all pending I don't finish the one I am drawing at the moment...unless I do two characters...hmmmmmmm~

Now with that Dynasmon is indeed a Royal Knight considering myself Usa, and HL will in time have a Royal Knight digimon HL still has to give you the thumbs up for him I personally don't have a problem with it.
Ofc if you actually decide to go with that Mega digimon

Okay, I'll consolidate the rules - a Digimon can have a preferred form in any level, provided you've been given permission to access said level. On the other hand, after a tough battle or something similarly tiring, they should de-Digivolve along these lines:
Champion -> Rookie
Ultimate -> In-Training
Mega -> In-Training or Fresh, depending on how big the rumble was. And yeah, I'm totally okay with the Wizardmon -> Dynasmon line, if that's what you're chasing.
