"Yes, but...my lower forms are not particularly..." He stopped, taking a moment to move to one side of the path and sit. "I do not particularly care for being on fire...and I do not find my other forms to be very useful. More of a hinderance really."
Wizardmon leaned forward slightly as he spoke. "I also do not know if I can return to the form easily without your full trust in me, Inori." He looked up at his partner. "I earned this form on my own...before we met. Now that we have, I cannot be certain that things will change."
Inori fidgeted awkwardly. "Oh..."
Wizardmon chuckled. "Besides, the more I work at maintaining this form, the easier it will become."

Dante nodded in understanding. He could see that trust wasn't something this girl gave away very easily, thus her partner's reluctance to devolve. He didn't like his lower forms, and didn't want to remain in them longer than absolutely necessary. Absent an assurance of trust on her part, he didn't want to take on a form that he hated if it meant he would have to stay there for any length of time. He looked absently down at Nyaromon. He wondered if she would hate one of her forms someday. If she did, would he be able to help her avoid it? It was all so theoretical, for she hadn't even changed form once yet. He suspected that Inori's partner was two levels of evolution higher than Nyaromon, and that made sense given the earlier talk of Shiv's partner being a little pink blob. So if he was that high, he had two lower forms that he despised. Good to know, though not particularly useful. His logic was sound, though. If one preferred a higher form, one needed to work at maintaining it, to gain strength enough to stay there. Once again, his thoughts drifted to Nyaromon. He wouldn't be surprised if she didn't want to return to this form. Already he could tell that she wanted legs of her own. Being carried everywhere just didn't suit her at all, although it did mean that she didn't have to exert any energy.
Nyaromon leapt out of Dante's arms and sat next to Wizardmon.
"What?" she asked, confronting Dante's confused expression, "If we're resting, I might as well sit somewhere else and let you rest your arms. You can carry me again when we start moving."
"I can hardly wait," Dante replied sarcastically.
He shook his head, a small smile growing on his face, and let the matter drop.

Wizardmon smiled at Nyaromon, reaching over and scratching behind her ear. "You understand, I'm sure...the joys of having to hop everywhere."
Inori peered at Wizardmon. "What is your other form?"
The cloaked digimon fidgeted awkwardly, sounding embarassed. "I...do not want to talk about it." He turned his attention back to Nyaromon, mostly to avoid Inori's gaze.
Inori on the other hand, just frowned, but didn't press. It would be unfair of her to expect him to share with her when she didn't trust him.

Nyaromon purred a little as Wizardmon scratched her.
"You have no idea how much I'm looking forward to legs," she said, a little dreamy with pleasure.
Dante chuckled.
"I can only imagine."
He tried to keep his composure as Wizardmon spoke again, clearly embarrassed by his previous forms. That'd be the reason why he didn't want to devolve, anyway. Inori was obviously unsatisfied by his reluctance, but didn't pursue her line of questioning. Had his charge of mistrust struck true after all? Interesting. So the shut-in seemed to have problems trusting people. Probably didn't think too much of Dante and Nyaromon if she couldn't trust her own partner. Things would become clear in time, however. As they got to know each other, albeit slowly, they'd probably both learn a lot about the other. That would be very interesting. Also interesting would be if and when they caught up to this Shiv character. It would be interesting to see what manner of person he was, and why he and his two partners ditched Inori directly after a fight. Curious behavior that needed explanation. No one did anything without a reason, after all...

Wizardmon smiled thankfully as Inori dropped the topic. He continued to pat Nyaromon for a moment, then retracted his hand and leaned back. He seemed to be trying to relax as much as he could.
Inori moved to sit down as well, a little glad for a moment's rest. Her mind however, was not particularly idle like the rest of her.
Part of her felt bad for how she had been treating Wizardmon. The mage digimon hadn't done anything to make her distrust him. She did appreciate how up front he was with her about things...even things she perhaps did not want to hear. Yet the other part of her rebelled against the idea of freely...blindly giving him her trust. It was hurting him...but perhaps not half as much as it was hurting her.
Mentally, Inori cursed at herself, staring intently at the ground outwardly.
"Inori...I do not know what the mountain has done to upset you so, but if you continue to stare at it like that, you may burn a hole through it." Wizardmon noted in a quiet tone, clearly the words were meant for only her to hear, though it was likely that Nyaromon and perhaps Dante would hear them anyway.
Inori grinned awkwardly, trying to mask her embarrassment. "Sorry, lost in thought..."

Dante was sitting nearby looking up at the mountain off of which he had come. He was marveling at the peace and tranquility around them, wondering about many things. Why had this world called to them if it was so peaceful? Was this peace hiding the true threat? Was this the calm before the storm? Or did the world seek to defend itself from some far off danger, and had called out to them in anticipation of its eventual arrival? Either way, he could almost sense the fact that he hadn't been brought here to witness peace and serenity. At about that point, Wizardmon commented on whatever it was that Inori was doing. Dante looked over, having only barely heard Wizardmon, and saw her awkward grin.
"Something on your mind, Inori?" he inquired.
It wasn't like he knew the first thing about what was going on, but it was better than musing over what manner of thing was going to try to kill him eventually.
Nyaromon hopped into Dante's lap.
"You could always mind your own business, you know," she said as if commenting on the weather.
"Excuse me?" he said, taken aback by her nonchalance.
"Make yourself useful. Behind the ears, please," she said, turning so he could reach the spot in question.
He chuckled, shook his head, and scratched Nyaromon.
"Y'know, it won't be such a terrible thing when you can do this for yourself," he commented.
"Tell me about it," Nyaromon replied, enjoying the relief from the itch she was experiencing, "I'm sure there will be something I can't reach, though. Can't leave you with nothing to do, can we?"

"Heh...there are a lot of things on my mind." Inori lamented. "But it's nothing to be worried about."
Wizardmon couldn't help but shake his head and chuckle as Nyaromon harassed her partner into scratching behind her ears. He stretched after a moment, moved to stand, then experimentally shifted his weight from one foot to the other.
"I should be fine to continue." He said, stretching again like he was making sure.
Inori made a face as she pulled herself back to her feet, having just gotten comfortable. "Onwards it is I guess?" She glanced to Dante and Nyaromon, with a brief shrug.

Dante shrugged back.
"Lead on. I'm not all that picky as to where we're headed."
He stood, gathering his partner up as he rose.
"The forest is that way, but you guys just came from there. The mountain is that way. I didn't see too much of interest up there, but I didn't really look all that much. Somewhere over thataway there's a building of some sort."
He indicated each direction as appropriate, then turned back to Inori and Wizardmon.
"What tickles your fancy?"

Wizardmon adjusted his hat, making a thoughtful sound.
"Avoiding the forest would be good for now....how far did you go up the mountain, Dante?" He inquired, shifting his gaze between said individual and farther up the path. "Honestly I am not certain where to head myself."
"Me neither...I've mostly just been taking Wizardmon's advice on where to go." Inori added quietly. "We could keep looking around here? Maybe there is something to be found here?"

Dante shrugged again.
"I landed a little ways up, so not that far. There's plenty of mountain I didn't see. Out of curiosity, which direction did Shiv head? I'd be interested to run into him one of these days..."
Idle curiosity, mostly. He wasn't going to suggest going whatever direction they indicated or anything. He just wanted to know in case they happened to be talking about heading that direction. If it wasn't going to happen, it wasn't going to happen. No skin off his nose either way.
Nyaromon nudged him.
"What's your interest in that guy? You haven't gone five minutes without mentioning him."
Dante pondered this for a second or two. It was a good question, and deserved a moment of thought.
"I suppose I just want to know what could drive someone to abandon a person in their moment of greatest weakness and just after the battle is over. I can see running away in the middle of battle, I guess, but after it's all over? From what I've heard, it looks like that guy looked around after the fight, then took off without a word. What could drive a person to do that? I'm just curious, that's all."

"Some people just..." Inori's tone sounded incredibly bitter for a moment, but she seemed to catch herself, and shake her head. "I don't know...some people are just jerks I guess."
Wizardmon reached over and pat his partner on the arm. Inori smiled briefly, then turned her attention to her digivice, poking at it a little.
"He should be that way." She pointed, then frowned. "Though I think he's quite a bit ahead of us now."

Dante shrugged.
"I suppose that could be true, but I still haven't met a single person who acts like a jerk for the sake of being a jerk. Call it a hobby, I guess, but I like understanding why people do things. If I know someone's going to play the jerk move card under certain circumstances, then I won't be blindsided should that person end up in those circumstances."
He took a breath and thought it over a little.
"If you don't want to go after him, we don't have to. As I said, I'm mostly just curious, anyway."
He looked up the mountain again. Now he was also curious about what lived on that mountain. As he turned back to Inori, he found himself genuinely not minding what direction they chose now.

"I'm sure we can do both." Wizardmon offered, as if trying to cater to both Inori and Dante.
"I don't mind finding him. I'm sure I could think of a few choice words to give him." Inori grinned. "Let's wander this way a while and see where that puts us. Then we can go look for Shiv."
Inori gestured vaugly in a direction that was not far off from where Shiv was, but not directly going to him either.

Dante nodded.
"Works for me. All else fails, a walk does a body good, does it not?"
Nyaromon looked up at him.
"Seriously? Walking is good for you? Maybe I don't want legs after all. Can't have anything that'll mean more work for me, I think."
Dante chuckled.
"Legs would also mean you don't have to hop everywhere..."
Nyaromon paused, then sighed.
"Yes, there is that, isn't there? I suppose legs are good, but don't expect me to walk everywhere we go."
Dante rolled his eyes.
"Very well, princess," he said with a degree of sarcasm.
"Thought you said you wouldn't call me that," she replied somewhat mockingly.
"It'll do until I think of something else to call you," Dante said with a shrug.

"The only thing worse then having to hop everywhere is if you are one of the poor unfortunate winged digimon without legs...then you have to either fly or hop everywhere." Wizardmon sounded both grateful that he did not have any such form, and amused by it. "You could always learn to levitate everywhere...an ability I am most grateful for.."
"Wait, you can levitate?" Inori eyed her partner. Was he serious?
"Of course." He paused, then clearly seemed to grin behind his cloak. "Can't you?"
"Of course I cannot hover!" Inori stated in a 'are you nuts?' sort of way. "Such a shame." He continued, amusement lacing his voice. "It really is quite fun."
