When next Dante could see anything, he was headed towards the ground. An island to be precise. At high speed.
Just my luck...
He braced himself for impact and horrible death-y kind of sounds, and was rewarded on only one of the above. He was now flat on his back looking up at the sky. He didn't feel dead, and the light pain in his back certainly seemed to suggest some kind of persistent life function.
"Ow," was his assessment.
"That looked painful," a small voice commented.
Dante rolled over and began searching all over for the small voice. The only thing he found was a small yellow blob with a purple striped tail and a little bitty pair of ears.
"What are you supposed to be?" he said with a chuckle. Looked like some kid lost his stuffed animal, and needed better taste in remotely cat-like objects.
"I'm Nyaromon," it said.
Dante took a couple steps back, surprised at it.
"What the-?!"
Nyaromon, or whatever it called itself, chuckled.
"I'm a digimon, and you're my human."
Dante scoffed.
"I'm your what now? Why does it sound like I belong to you or something?"
"More like you belong with me, but I like your version better," Nyaromon said matter-of-factly.
Dante rolled his eyes.
"Great. So where are we and what's with this little toy I found?"
"The toy is your digivice," Nyaromon explained, "It's a handy thing to have around, so keep it with you. As to where we are, I'd guess a mountain of some sort. Pick me up and start walking."
Dante rolled his eyes yet again.
"Yes, Princess."
He picked her up and started in the direction he happened to be facing at the time, which led vaguely downwards.
"Princess, hmmm?" Nyaromon mused, "I like it."
"Don't get used to it, Nyaromon. I am not calling you Princess."
The banter continued in this manner for some time as they headed down the mountain towards whatever they happened to encounter first that merited their attention.

In time, the duo reached a fork in the way. This differed from other forks in that this one led very drastically in either one direction or the other. The one way down headed towards some kind of forest, and the other...
"Is that some kind of building?" Dante inquired, straining his eyes to see where the other path led.
"Dante, my entire life has been spent on this mountain waiting for you," Nyaromon replied, reminding him of a conversation they'd had not long ago.
"That was a rhetorical question," he said somewhat sarcastically, "I'm trying to decide what direction we should take. The entire reason I haven't asked you which way you think is best is because you said earlier that you've been waiting for me for as long as you can remember."
Nyaromon nodded, inasmuch as a being that's pretty much all face can nod.
"That sounds about right. Out of curiosity, is there anything in that bag?"
Dante looked towards the messenger bag he was carrying absently.
"This? Not too much. Why do you ask?"
"It looks like it would be comfortable to sleep in," she said, sounding like he should have already known.
"You're like my cat. Do you ever see something and not judge its worthiness as a sleeping spot?"
"I am a cat, Dante. I do judge things beyond how comfortable they look, but if they look comfortable, I'm not going to turn them down, am I?"
Dante rolled his eyes and pulled his messenger bag around his body. There wasn't too much in it, so it was more or less all hers.
"Just don't destroy anything. I've got a couple granola bars in there if you want one."
Nyaromon made a happy noise as he placed her in the bag. As he shifted it around to his back, he could hear the sounds of munching. In retrospect, he probably should have told her to leave one for him, but no worries. He had eaten not long ago, so he wasn't all that hungry at the moment. Later would be different, but he'd cross that bridge when it came. In the meantime, forest or building? He wasn't counting on the building being of any help, though. Since when was Tokyo Tower weirdness ever that easy? No, if the manga he'd read was any indication, the forest would probably be safer. So, forest it was. The sounds from his bag had died down, so either she was sleeping, or she was just enjoying the taste of the food she'd just downed.
Gotta say, though. Far as bizarre nightmare type goings on are concerned, this one's not starting out too bad. I have a new cat thing, and I'm headed for a forest that probably contains at least one thing that's gonna scare the life out of me unexpectedly. Par for the course, I guess, but not too bad...

Inori's digivice was beeping at a much more rapid speed then it had been before. She figured she must be getting close to whomever it was reacting to.
"I swear, if it turns out to be Shiv...." She muttered under her breath, much to the amusement of Wizardmon. Feeling a fair bit more comfortable walking on his own, the wizard digimon released his partner's hand, keeping stride with her.
"It will be fine either way, I assure you." He grinned behind his cloak, though she could read the expression in his eyes. She shrugged, and shifted her attention to what was before her, hoping that the individual in question up ahead was not too much farther away.

Dante was on his way towards the forest when suddenly that toy from earlier started going crazy. He looked at the screen and saw two red dots, getting closer together.
"What the...?"
He didn't have long to wait, either. Shortly thereafter, two figures came into view. One was cloaked wearing a pointy hat. He didn't seem too incredibly well off, but at least he was moving on his own. The other was a girl with brown hair.
"Finally," he said to himself, "Another human."
He approached her, eyeing her partner the whole way. The guy was much bigger than Nyaromon, and if it came to blows, things would get very uncomfortable for him, so he would have to keep an eye on the guy. He was weakened, so it might turn out okay, though.
"Hello," he said once he was finished assessing the potential threat of the duo. Conveniently, he had pretty much closed the distance in that time. She'd probably notice that he hadn't said hello right away, but it didn't much matter to Dante.

Inori and Wizardmon stopped as Dante spoke up.
"Hello." Inori replied, fidgeting a little as she did. She was either nervous, or a little shy most likely. Wizardmon eyed Dante's bag for a moment, then looked up at him.
The cloaked digimon nodded shortly in greeting, observing Dante quietly.
"Are...you lost out here too?" Inori's tone sounded more awkward then nervous the second time she spoke.

So the girl was nervous, eh? So much the better for him. With a partner like her, his strength would be limited...right? Well, more limited with him visibly weakened and all, but still. It was good for his calm, anyway.
"I'm only lost in that I don't really know where I am too well. I landed on my back, had some crazy toy that makes noises when I find stuff, met..."
He paused.
"Oh, I forgot."
He reached back into his bag and extracted a little yellow ball with cat ears and a tail.
"Wake up, Nyaromon. I met someone new."
The little cat opened her eyes and smiled towards the girl and her digimon.
"Hello there. I'm Nyaromon, and the one holding me is Dante. What's your name?"
Dante hadn't thought to offer his name, more because she hadn't thought to offer hers. Now that it was out in the open, might as well go for it. Nyaromon had touched on all the bases, though, so all that remained was to see how the girl responded.

"Wizardmon." The cloaked digimon responded first, leaning towards his partner slightly. "This is Inori"
The girl smiled a little more in responce. "Weird isn't it? This whole place is kind of crazy. He's the most sane thing I've met so far." She nodded towards her partner with a light laugh.
Now it was Wizardmon's turn to offer an awkward chuckle, glancing up at his partner. "Considering all you've met besides me were two very large angry insect digimon, a flighty boy and his partners, yes, I would hope to be the most sane thing you have met thus far."

Dante took a moment to assimilate all the information she was giving him. Inori seemed like kind of a shut-in, not all that confident, but responding well to positive interaction. Wizardmon was a tough nut to crack, though. He seemed nice enough, but he didn't volunteer anything as far as what kind of person he was. Also, person? Were digimon technically people? In any case, Wizardmon seemed to still be working his way in, interestingly enough. Maybe something to do with the interaction between the two, but did she even trust him? To be fair, did he trust Nyaromon?
Well enough, he thought, Like she said, we belong together. In any case, I'm probably protecting her more than she's protecting me at the moment anyway...
He chuckled at her assessment.
"This place is crazy. Still, it beats homework. I figure I'll have a look around the place and see what happens. All else fails, I blame it on some bad sushi or something, right? If I'm not dreaming, however, it's a chance to meet new people, maybe make a friend or two if things really go nuts. Am I right?"
What sounded like naked optimism was really opportunism. He was the type to make the best of what came along less because he found the world to be all sunshine and flowers, and more because doing so was the only reasonable options. Life hurt less when you took things as they came and dealt with them as best you could. Besides, measuring Wizardmon's reactions to his sentiments would help him get that much closer to figuring him out a little.

Inori made a face at the mention of homework. "Most everything is better then homework." She pointed out. "Maybe not the two angry bugs, but...I...I guess it is a way, though I've only met you and one other...and he just sort of ran away." Her voice took on a bitter edge as she mentioned the fleeing.
Wizardmon had returned his attention to Dante's partner, giving her a calculating look while his partner spoke with Dante. After a moment, he swiftly shifted his attention to Inori realizing that his calculating stare might be considered either rude or unnerving to some.

Dante shrugged.
"Well, I don't have anywhere better to be, so do you want to travel together for a while? Maybe when we find your friend, we can see if maybe he had a reason to run off like that."
He had absolutely no idea why he'd said that. The best he could come up with was that these two didn't pose much of a threat to him, but perhaps the fact that they'd taken on two gigantic bugs accounted for their weakness, but also their usefulness in battle. Maybe he was just curious about this introvert he'd found. Maybe he just wanted to travel in the company of another human until he got his bearings in this place. Maybe a lot of things weren't what they seemed. The fact remained that he found himself kind of wanting to travel in the company of this girl, perhaps even go in pursuit of the guy who'd ditched her.
Why would someone ditch you, I wonder? You don't look like there's a mean bone in your body...
Nyaromon returned Wizardmon's stare in kind, mostly out of boredom, but also sizing him up a bit. The other digimon hadn't said a word to her the whole time, so she didn't know if maybe he didn't know what to do with her, or was distracted by her partner, who looked a touch more imposing. Either way, she had her eye on him.

A frown briefly passed across Inori's face as she debated the situation. Should she accept knowing what the last person had done? It would be pretty unfair to simply shoot down his offer on the idea of 'well you could be like the other guy'.
Wizardmon seemed more then content leaving this decision in his partner's hands...it was her call in the end, though he did pipe up with a: "I doubt either of us would call him our friend."
"Right, though his two partners were not as bad." Inori nodded slightly as she spoke. "But I don't mind if we traveled together. Four is better then two out here I'm learning."
She grinned at Dante, while Wizardmon glanced back to Nyaromon, then tilted his head slightly to one side. "Is this alright with you?" He inquired in a polite but curious tone. The cat digimon had not offered her thoughts on the situation...though to be fair he hardly had either.

Nyaromon was a little surprised to be asked directly whether or not she approved of the plan. Dante would never admit it, but it was her idea in the first place to travel with other people. She shrugged, or rather made a similarly nonchalant gesture that could be done without shoulders.
"If I can get your partner there to scratch me behind the ears, I'm good with whatever you all want to do. I'd ask Dante, but he's hopeless at finding the right spot."
Dante arched a brow in response to that one. He knew exactly what she was up to, and it had nothing to do with how well he scratched her behind the ears. Still, it'd be interesting to see Inori's reaction.
"Would you be so kind, Inori?" he asked, "Apparently I'm hopeless."
He chuckled a bit as he finished speaking. So would she scratch a cat behind the ears, or would she be too shy to do it?

Inori wasn't expecting the request, glancing down to Wizardmon for either support or an answer. Despite his saying nothing, the girl nodded after a long moment.
She awkwardly stepped forward, and even more awkwardly reached out to scratch behind Nyaromon's ear...the whole time repeating in her mind 'It's for a team'. She was also under the idea of the digimon did anything, Wizardmon step in.
Wizardmon remained silent the whole time, not intending to interefere, despite having caught Dante's subtle confused look when Nyaromon made her request.

Nyaromon closed her eyes and started purring.
"Oh yeah...That's the spot..." she said contentedly.
Dante looked at Inori's eyes.
"Looks like you're not half as hopeless as I am," he commented.
He looked over at Wizardmon.
"So what's your story, stretch? You haven't said much since we met."

Inori made a face, scratching behind Nyaromon's ear for a little longer before retreating back a few steps. "I'm still half hopeless, I'm sure." She replied before her partner spoke up.
The cloaked digimon seemed like he would be raising an eyebrow if he had one. "Stretch? I do not understand..." "It's...don't mind the wording." Inori offered her partner at his confusion. Wizardmon nodded slowly, though his baffled expression remained.
"I am not certain there is much to tell. I came to be, I was sent to the forest, and I waited for Inori." He stated dully. There was likely more to it then that, but he didn't seem particularly like giving his life's story at the moment.
